herbal allies for healing

herbal allies for healing 〰️

I’ve been studying plant medicine since 2015 through classes at herb shops and self guided at home experimentation. I attended Samara School of Community Herbalism in 2020, then Terra Sylva School of Botanical Medicine in 2022 and continued to their advanced program in 2025. My studies continue in community cohorts of dedicated plant enthusiasts and continuing education around effects of covid and long covid, digestion, nervous system support, muscle and joint pain, mental focus, heart burn, and many other topics. I revisit material and take new classes and continue learning with resources such the American Herbalist Guild and of course simply listening to the best teachers: the plants themselves. Looking for ways to ease stress, support digestion, temper burn out, and improve nutrient absorption, I’ve kitchen witched my way to a strong connection to plants and a precision for formulating quality herbal medicine.

When life’s current stressors are largely inflicted by capitalism, white supremacy, and climate catastrophe, my interest in empowering people to build a relationship with plants is not in a vacuum ignoring the realities of systemic oppression making us sick. We need antibiotics and vaccines and a referral to a physical therapist just as much as we need artichoke leaf and milky oats and motherwort.

I have completed two foundational and one advanced year long program and received feedback on my medicine making, formulations, and understanding of plant constituents effects on human anatomy and physiology.

All products are sourced as ethically as I know how in my current urban herbalist setting. I get fresh plants from Sonoma County Herb Exchange (and or farmers and growers in my area), dried plants from Mountain Rose Herb Co, occasionally harvest small amounts of wild, weedy, and abundant plants, and purchase simples from other trusted herbalists when I am short a few ounces to complete a formula. I prioritize cultivated and organic plant sources. I use high proof alcohol and distilled water and follow best practices specific to each plant to measure menstrums that best honor the plants gifts.

From plant walks to studying tastes, energetics, physiology and anatomy, making oxymels, tinctures, salves and balms, and practicing through herbal trials and errors, I’ve been a dedicate practicing herbalist for ten years. Herbal medicine really shines as preventative medicine but plants can also be potent care allies through chronic illness.

I hope that something in my herb shop can be of support to you or you can book a mini herbal consult with me so we can work together to find the right herbs for you.
